About AFTHE Labs

Unified data infrastructure for industries where high-stakes decisions depend on fragmented public records.

The Problem

Critical industry data — contractor licenses, prevailing wages, government contracts, energy permits — lives in thousands of disconnected portals. Each state, agency, and jurisdiction uses different formats, update schedules, and access methods.

Companies spend months building one-off scrapers and parsers just to access basic public data. When a state changes their website or file format, everything breaks. There's no standard, no consistency, and no single source of truth.

Our Approach

AFTHE Labs builds the bridge. We handle the complexity of ingesting, parsing, and normalizing data from every source — so your team doesn't have to. Every record gets mapped to a universal schema. Every API follows the same patterns. Every module works standalone or cross-referenced with others.

We're not a data warehouse. We're a data infrastructure layer that keeps your information as fresh as the source provides, with the consistency and reliability your products demand.

How we build

Source of truth

We bridge to the original source — state agencies, federal databases, official registries. The government is the system of record. We normalize, not duplicate.

Universal schemas

Every module produces data in a standardized format. Whether you're querying California or Connecticut, the fields, types, and categories are consistent.

Modular by design

Each data plugin works independently. Subscribe to one module or five. Cross-reference contractor licenses with prevailing wages, or use them separately.

Built for high-stakes decisions

Surety underwriters binding bonds, MGAs writing policies, GCs vetting subcontractors. Different workflows, one source of truth.

Transparent access

Clean REST APIs, published documentation, no black boxes. The same data and same patterns whether you're a single user or an enterprise integration.

Customer-demand-driven

Construction risk is our current focus. New modules ship when paying customers identify the need — not when an internal roadmap says so. The platform pattern travels; the priorities follow the market.

The platform vision

AFTHE Labs isn't a single product — it's a data infrastructure platform. Each module we build follows the same pattern: ingest fragmented public data, normalize it into a universal schema, and deliver it through a clean API.

Today, our focus is contractor risk infrastructure — license verification, federal OSHA history, and Davis-Bacon prevailing wages — serving surety underwriters, MGAs, and general contractors. The platform pattern is industry-agnostic by design: future modules ship when paying customers tell us they're needed, not on a predetermined timeline. The industries are different — the infrastructure challenge is the same.

A note from the founder

I started AFTHE Labs after spending a few months looking at how high-stakes decisions actually get made in industries like surety bonding and insurance underwriting — and finding that the data those decisions depend on is buried in state portals, federal databases, and disciplinary registries that don't talk to each other.

I didn't come up through insurance. I found this problem from the outside.

We're starting with contractor risk because that's where the pain is most acute and the customer signal is clearest. The platform is built to extend to other industries as customers ask for them. We're at the design partner stage now, working with a small group of surety firms and GCs to make sure what we build is what their teams actually need.

If that work overlaps with yours, I'd like to hear from you.
